[...] At any rate, I love this beer. For years I didn’t think I’d find another IPA I could love quite as much. Then earlier this year, I discovered fresh hopped (or wet hopped) beers, which gave me some hope. These IPAs are full of super hop flavor, and yet not horribly bitter. See my post about my experience here. [...]

I was one of those people who had an issue - in my case 3 beers were on my tab that my friend and I didn't order. The bartender I mentioned it to wasn't our bartender (because he was busy) but he didn't even bat an eyelash and took care of it, without groveling for my forgiveness. I've been in this industry before, and I've worked for a place that has the corporate version of the "customer is always right" philosophy (which sucks as an employee because the customer is often enough an a-hole and you're trying to make all 10 of your tables happy, not just the whiners). BB&C has gotten somethign right, and I imagine most places cannot pull off an opening night like that with that kind of awesome service (and well, awesome everything). I will wait til January when people aren't going out anywhere to see how expectation and reality ultimately work out, but I tip my hat to every person working for and with this establishment.

I was lucky enough to go with the administrator of this site to Rustico -- i definitely trust her beer judgment! However, i would have to part ways with her on the ambiance of Rustico -- it's beautiful! She's just used to drinking beer in holes in the wall! there's soemthing to be said for that too, but this joint is upbeat and pretty, and i think that' s nice!!--Caitlin H

Well, yeah it'll probably be expensive. But then they're not there to serve Miller Lite, right? Plenty of other places to go if you just want some cheap beer. I am really happy to see a bar (and restaurant) opening that's focused exclusively on great beer. Would you find the froo-froo accoutrements so surprising if this were a wine-focused place? Of course I'm a beer nerd so this is like dangling a candy bar over a diabetic's face.

I'm glad to hear this too, as it's about 5 minutes from home. But does a bar need a "beer director" and an "executive chef?" I smell a place that will be too expensive to bother with, especially given the more reasonable options so close.

Hey Avery! You're right it's going in at the former "Dakota Cowgirl" location. Once this place opens, and it genuinely looks like it's going to soon, I'll buy you a few.

Also yes it's that same company, I think they're called Neighborhood Restaurant Group. They own Tallula and Vermilion and also Rustico. Apparently the bottom floor is going to be a restaurant called "Birch & Barley" and upstairs will be Churchkey, which has all the drafts and casks. Really looking forward to the casks. No word on a roof deck, but that'd be awesome too.

I am so happy to hear this. I get my hair cut next door to that location (I think it's the former Hamburger Mary's/Dakota Cowgirl) and they've been trying to build it for at least two years. I was told there would also be a rooftop section, but perhaps arranging for that was part of the holdup.

Not sure if this is still true, but it was supposed to be the same same company that owns Tallula in Arlington, a great (but expensive) wine bar. Too bad all the beers I order come out of my severance check.
